I am new to the West and was wondering if a dog can survive a snake bite? If they can, what first aid needs to be done? Should I be carrying something with me if I hike? Thanks.

Warning Xylitol!
I may be the only one who did not know this, and if so I apologize, but my little Jack Russel is in the hospital today due to Xylitol poisoning. If I can spare one person who is not aware (like me) this heartache it will be worth it. Xylitol is a worse poison for dogs than chocolate mainly because it is always poisonous whereas chocolate does not always effect all dogs.
