New Mexico Racing Commission Public Hearing

The New Mexico Racing Commission is having a public hearing on May 2, 2012, at 9:00 a.m. at 4900 Alameda N.E. in Albuquerque. If you care about horses, please attend this meeting! New Mexico is by far the worst state in the country for the number of breakdowns, injuries and deaths occurring for both horse and jockey. There has been so much bad news about abuse and neglect of horses in New Mexico recently that I have been very distracted. After writing letters, making phone calls and sharing information I have decided that it is time to post some more positive photos.Here are photos of recent arrivals at The Horse Shelter. January, 2012: Ponies at The Horse Shelter

In November 2011 two mares and two fillies arrived at The Horse Shelter. We named them Blossom, Amber, Giselle and Lupita. They are still pretty wild, but they are learning that sometimes people have carrots or something good to eat in a bucket.
