Keeping an eye on your Dog: leash law

PUPPIES RESCUED FOR THE PRICE OF ALCOHOL
This is a follow-up story of the puppies that were baking in the sun, about 2 or so weeks ago. The good news is: the puppies of 6-7 weeks old are safe at the SF humane society. The not so good news; SF animal control, from whom I could assess from phone calls and the fact the puppies were not immediately confiscated – the “welfare check” went unnoticed and unattended.

- Hi Michele. I remember seeing a comment in the New Mexican last year saying people should be required to prove they are worthy pet owners and fill out an application when they register their pets - which most people don't do anyway - and somehow Animal Services would need to do home checks or something they obviously have no time to do now. But maybe if the pet over population problem ever gets under control and shelters aren't bursting at the seams and having to reduce adoption fees to make space for the next 100, there will be more strict screening and crack downs on backyard breeders and unaltered animals. But not sure if I'll ever see that in my lifetime. But things are slowly turning for the better in places like Denver where SN has been quite successful and sometimes their shelters are < 50% full. Santa Fe some day? So glad to hear the famale has been spayed.

I took Sokki and another Icey I had, Gymir, on an attempted ride across the US in 2001. Went with another woman who had mules. My horses did just as well as her mules. I packed one and rode the other, alternating every other day. Was on the road for 4 months when my partner fell off her mule and broke her pelvis. I decided to pack it in and come on home. But what an adventure!
