Profile Information

What kind of pet do you have and what's his or her name?
Hi, my name is Randi. I am the volunteer publicity chair of the newly formed Eldorado Dog Club. I have two dogs, a male pit bull named Li'l Teddy-Lew and a female chocolate lab, Lily Belle.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our profile page. Please feel free to post photos and tell us about you and your companion animals. I would also like to invite you to join our club. We meet at 7pm on the second Tuesday of each month at the community center in Eldorado.

Mission Statement

To provide a forum for the discussion of issues pertinent to promoting responsible dog guardianship and a high quality of life for dogs and their people in the Eldorado Community, and to share views and concerns with the Eldorado Community Improvement Association.

To promote honor, trust and respect in the relationship between dogs and their guardians and support activities that nurture this relationship and bring together residents with similar values in the Eldorado area.

Please read about the highlights of our first event below, a fundraiser for The Santa Fe Animal Shelter and Humane Society.

Off to a Great Start!

Words and weather, both, may have deterred others, but not the six core women who were intent on making the Eldorado Dog Club’s first event a huge success.
With a little over a month to prepare, three words, “not enough time” did not resonate. On November 11th the idea was brought about at the group's monthly meeting and the following day the members simply hit the ground running. The club received generous donations for their raffle from Eldorado community merchants as well as several businesses in Santa Fe; all proceeds from the raffle went directly to the Santa Fe Animal Shelter and Humane Society. As the morning of the event arrived, the women feared the worst. But even the sudden winter storm would not dampen the spirit as hearty animal lovers, dogs in tow, arrived for a free photo with Santa. From 2pm on, “Santa” Selnick had nary a moment to notice if his dog allergies kicked in, as good-hearted professional photographers, Burt and Cindy Plotkin, clicked away to the delight of all attendees. Shelter volunteer, Tom Alexander, was on hand to educate, answer questions and provide photos of animals available for adoption through the shelter. Guests munched on refreshments donated by the Eldorado Supermarket as they good-naturedly purchased a bounty of raffle tickets, keeping the holiday spirit aglow. On December 14th the weather may have turned cold, but inside the little Train Depot building in Eldorado, the sheer generosity and love, all for the animals, could have melted the heart of even the grumpiest Scrooge.

The Eldorado Dog Club would like to extend a special thank you to all who helped make this event a huge success.

I don't live in Eldorado anymore, but my dog is lost and there is a possibility of her being in the Eldorado area. I have notified the vet out there and put up posters today at the supermarket, dog grooming, and dog food supply stores in the shopping center as well as on major stop signs. I also stopped by the veterinarians and spoke with them and left a poster.
I have poster her missing on this website earlier but I thought I would specifically target your Eldorado page in case someone hasn't seen it.
She's a 6 year old female blue heeler mix, named Gracie. She is very people friendly and will come when called. Her face is distinctively black on one half and white on the other. Her ears flop over and her tail is long with a white tip.
Her picture is on my blog at this sight.
If anyone sees her please try and call her and then call me. My number is 505-660-6398.
Thanks.
Bill Hill.

Barbara and Ellen, there are no words- thank you so much for taking the contents over to the shelter once again. The two of you have been wonderful. I second the thanks to our incredible community for being so supportive with regard to the donation box. I continue to be thrilled about the success of this effort. Congrats to us too- the EDC has been and I know will continue to be a great team effort- I look forward to additional animal lovers joining us as we continue to our work- and have some fun too!

I accompanied Ellen out to the Santa Fe Animal Shelter yesterday to bring the last box of holiday donations from our community. This was the last of three big deliveries for the Shelter. Thank you to the Eldorado and surrounding communities for all their generosity.
