Urgent! Gorgeous Aussie/Border Collie mix needs loving, active home

Hi scoopers...I have lost my job as a consultant at the lab (quite unexpectedly due to a reorg in the environmental program!) and will be moving in about 6 weeks... Just had to share this story... we need to spread all the good news we find about this breed... since the media tends to highlight only the negative.... I wouldn't trade my big guy (rescued form the highway in Pojoaque 2 years ago) for anything in the world... like Way... he failed his temperament test and was put on death row when I was able to set him free... one of the best and smartest dogs I've ever had... such a great, happy temperament... he was just scared in the shelter environment...…See More

I have lost my job as a consultant at the lab (quite unexpectedly due to a reorg in the environmental program!) and will be moving in about 6 weeks... Anybody ever built an agility course?

Hi! This is my beautiful Mina... a pit bull/greyhound mix who has asked for her very own agility course!

She is quite the athlete (she LOVES to run and looks just like a greyhound when she does...) and a wanna be gymnast!

SPCA's Operation Baghdad Pups brings home Penny...



The SPCA has a wonderful program called Operation Baghdad Pups... born of the pleas of a US serviceman for help in rescuing a Baghdad dog when his company was leaving the city. The dog had become very special to the unit, and its love and affection had helped them get through many, many tough days in Baghdad... the soldier couldn't think of leaving the dog behind. Thank you very much for your kind words about my book, Grant Me My Final Wish. I just read your comment on Ben's post and I am so touched. Since I was a little girl, I've had a deep love for animals. My five sibblings and I grew up with wonderful dogs, two German Shepards and a cocker spaniel, who were a big part of our family. Unfortunately, due to my business responsibilities and extensive travel schedule, I currently do not own any pets.

I I especially respect people who make a point of stressing the importance of all animals in our lives and admire Jackie Reyes for her efforts in finding a home for Pema. I, and a few of my immediate family members, are enthusiastic supporters of animal rights and I will share this blog with them, as well as with many of my friends and clients who share our passion.

Yes, Caril, I have 3 others. Spirit, a Mastiff, is almost 10, Tricks, a chihuahua, is 13, & Benny, another Chihuahua is 15 1/2. Spirit has been with us the longest coming up to 2 years. Moose was our foundation & we lived with him for 6 years. He was also the youngest at age 8. Unfortunately both Benny & Spirit are having health issues this week & have to go to the vet tomorrow. Wish us luck?

Labs indeed are soooo very special. Cody travelled everywhere with me....he was literally my shadow. I have had dogs my entire life and each special spirit occupies a tender place in my heart. With Cody, I had to say good-bye to him....release him and send him to Rainbow Bridge. It was my first experience with Euthanasia and I still have not recovered. I have been volunteering at our shelter in Los Alamos to help heal my heart. I believe I am ready to adopt another.

Caril....Funny you would say that about adopting a little brown dog...Honestly, I've been so tired and out of it, it wasn't till this afternoon that I looked at Max and thought.....oh my, I have "another little brown dog"....

Yeah, I think it's definitely an acquired taste: horse doo-doo. That's one of the best reasons I like to visit my country dog friends, Scout and Chelan; they live on a ranch with five horses! And we;always get to roam free there. Sort of like canine caviar!

We've already taken flyers out to campgrounds. Neigubors had spotted Jackson and Rufina on t in Apache Ridge prior to his disappearance. Now Rufina just sits outside the house and watches. I take her out every day looking for him. She'ss even get in the car now so we can search farther afield. I can email you flyer or we could meet and I could give some to you.
