To breed or not to breed?

To breed or not to breed? It's not in in the breed, but in the relationship, dummy!

Having admired only days ago a still very young and cute puppy, an Australian Shepherd, bought to replace one that had passed away over a year ago, I felt such mixed emotions thinking about all those animals in shelters in need of…

Pet Parade - Dog Park Representatives

The annual Pet Parade is scheduled to start Saturday 9.10. at 9 AM. Thinking of this really fun event, it seems that we ought to have a representation of our Frank Ortiz dog park walk along to show our community that dog park regulars (four and two legged ones) are well socialized and sweet and not the wild beasts some like to believe! What would it take to make this happen? Anyone interested? Too late?

Profile Information

What kind of pet do you have and what's his or her name?
Isabella a female probably Wheaton Terrier Mix I brought home from the Santa Fe Animal Shelter October 23. 2006. She is my very first dog ever and I love her gentle, generous heart.

Sumo or Schnuegge, a male Yorky?Maltese/Poodle mix , a former neighbor's dog that visited us for the first time exactly 1 year ago, just when I was wondering about finding a companion for my girl, as she is so outgoing. My girl loves him, has shared everything with him to the point of letting him have her bed and settling in front. I put a stop to that though!

Saemi, a gorgeous black, luck bringing cat is with us since February 15th. We thought it was the famously lost kitty from our street, but as it turned out he was not the one and the Shelter eventually did connect me with an owner in Colorado and by the end of the month we might see if Saemi is a permanent member of our household. Meanwhile the three are learning how to get along with the kitty quickly having established it's rank.

HI Om,
what a beautiful page!!! WOW

I am looking for a small boarding place that has some running room for my two Arabs, close to SF. Just putting the word out. If you know any-one or place, could you please pass along to me.
I think we live in the same neighborhood.
Thank you, MIcheleElys

Thank you again. I had forgotten all about that incident but I went to the park today and it reminded me. I didn't know who to ask and YOU came to mind.

Happy New Year!

THANK YOU for that long and detailed answer! I was asking because I was there about 2 weeks ago and a lady was telling everyone that someone had abandoned a pregnant dog there...and then I never heard anything else about that. I don't go there very often.

Hi....I have a question for you...

Since you seem to go to the dog park (Frank Ortiz) a lot, how common do you think it is that people abandon dogs there that they no longer want knowing that many dog loving people go there every day?

The last 2 days he was inside and he did have a bowl outside in view, but was leashed earlier to the back of a truck barely able to move around the side of it. If you pass by Warehouse 21 look to the back of the row of homes on Alarid Street. If he had been out the other day, I was prepared to call, but it is always such a tricky thing. Maybe a better idea to post a copy of the city rules on the entry or truck. I will keep checking and invite others to do the same, not to be nosy, but to care for all life.
