After 1 1/2 hours of questions and comments the Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously passed SB 11 today.

Again, Thank you Animal Protection League New Mexico and the NM Restaurant Association for being there to support SB11.

There was a gentleman that did not support the bill because he felt pet dogs would interfere with his assistance dog and a women from The Govenor's Commission on Disability stood up as well. I am sorry to report that not one person from the dog community was there to support the bill.

Next stop for this bill is a floor vote in the Senate. It could be before…

Evidence of Mutts 9400 years ago

A diet that included dogs, may have been excusable some 9000 years ago, but practiced these days, as we heard in China, absolutely inexcusable. Check out this New York Times article.

It all comes down to money!

Hello - I just fielded the 2nd Craigs List posting, this week, for our area, on a dog that needed a dental that the owner could not afford.  The first was a Cavalier Charles Spaniel on Monday, that dog disappeared. The 2nd is a Pug, posted yesterday.  Thank goodness that owner responded to our inquiry and we can now assist by helping to find the best low-cost dental treatment (in three counties) and hope to try and raise funds to assist with the bill!

Unfortunately, between all the…

Marshall Chapter 13. He Asks by Susan R. Stoltz

Marshall Chapter 13. He Asks

It’s amazing how much I have taken for granted with my Jacks, both of whom were born in my home and have never had another owner. They don’t exhibit fear; they are happy and constantly loving, and as is typical of Jacks, always game for a new adventure and loud about the entire idea.…

The City of Santa Fe, with its design consultancy group is getting close to Master Plan Approval for the wonderful vast property adjacent to 599 known as the La Tierra Trails. The current proposal will result in full enforcement of the City Dog Ordinance on this enormous property, which means dogs must be leashed at all times "on city property."

A handful of dog professionals (trainers, day care owners) and users of the trails is forming to ask the City to consider a more dog…

Kibble Versus Home Made

My pups just polished off 1/2 can sardines (in,H2O) with millet, lots of finely chopped parsley (it does sweeten the breath) and their condiment, a mix of brewers yeast, bonemeal, bran, kelp & more, no kibble. Such will follow later in the day and I will be sure they will eat it only if really hungry.…
