Dog Park Conditions

Today, late morning, the main area was a mess I almost turned away again, but then stopped and headed down the arroyo where it was perfect, no mess, no puddles, no unbearable amounts of mud. The dog park keeps defying my expectations, I get surprised again and again. It's worth seeking out the roads lesser traveled!

Please chime in here

Question: If you lived in the Eldorado area and were the proud papa/momma of this little bundle of cuteness:

Would you be careful letting her out in your back yard because of hawks?

You probably recognize who this adorable little lady is and know whose heartstrings she has wrapped around her little paws.

Her "crazy about her" papa has asked me if I'd be worried letting her out in the yard because she is so little and he worries… Continue

About 2-hours after she was left with her new person and other dog, she climbed over a 6-foot chain link fence and went missing.

She is a 10-yr old shep-mix, lg, fem, with longish black hair; brown and a little white on the face chest and paws. She is wearing a blue collar with 2-tags on it.

She ran from the end of Don Gaspar where it loops into 2-small Camino-streets and… Continue

Here is the text:

Gilles Bensimon/Cesar's Way Magazine

The "Dog Whisperer" Cesar Millan is mourning the death of his cherished pit bull, Daddy, who passed away on Feb. 19 at the age of 16. He died peacefully surrounded by the family that loved him: Millan, his wife Ilusion and their young sons, Andre and Calvin.

Daddy was a familiar face on Millan's show, "The Dog Whisperer" on the National Geographic Channel, where his calm-submissive presence set an example for troubled canines and their owners… Continue

Pet vaccinations are no longer one-size-fits-all

By Val Willingham, CNN

Pet owners can get confused when having to decide which vaccinations are right for animal

Yearly boosters and a slew of shots at one time are not always necessary

"Core" vaccines, such as rabies and distemper, are recommended for most dogs

Husky's Woes

Sad to read the story about Biko and his injuries. We have a 10 year old Siberian (see Seeka in our pic) and it sounds like she has the exact same issues with both her rear legs. We have been told it is an ACL issue. Last night she was unable to move at all and had to be carried. It is getting progressive worse. It is very painful AND as mentioned in the article VERY EXPENSIVE to have repaired. Good luck to Biko...Seeka understands.…

Lost Rottweiler

A very sweet and friendly Rottweiler recently disappeared from a friend's home in Pecos. They live near the Pecos Propane office right off of Hwy. 50. They think she wandered off (not likely) or was taken around 2/13/10. Their children are heart broken. She is lean and large about four years old. She did not have her tags on at the time. She may have had a red collar. Any information about her would be appreciated. Please call 660-9789. Thank you.…

Rocket is feeling better

Hi Fellow Scoopers,

This is Rocket's mother. Thank you all so much for sending in your analysis of why Rocket might have been acting more aggressive last week. I am sorry it has taken me so long to send in an update. Rocket is back to her tail-wagging self. We never did figure out what was going on with her, and her symptoms disappeared soon after I wrote last. I suspect that those of you who commented on her condition were right, and maybe she wasn't feeling well. My husband on the… Continue
