I've lost my 1 year-old black cat. She ran a away from Michelle Drive (near the Frank S. Ortiz Dog Park) on Sunday. she doesn't have a collar, but she is chipped. If you have found her please give me a call at 919-360-7517, or take her to your nearest animal shelter.
About 8:30 this monring my cell phone rang - I wasn't in a place to answer it and didn't recognize the number, so I let it go through to vm. A few minutes letter an email shows up on my 'puter with the title "Your Lost Dog Found". I opened it up and discovered that Daisy had been found.
Daisy is a beautiful - 7-8 year old basset who recently lost an eye to glaucoma. We adopted her out to a family in Belen about a month ago after doing the usual home visits, reference checks etc. Were… Continue
So we are now only missing one dog... Bocephus our Tan Standard Poodle Puppy. We received a phone call from someone today who bought Chloe (our Bulldog) from someone yesterday at the mall. He sold her back to us and says he doesn't know who he bought her from.

Our kids are so upset to think that our poor baby boy is out there all… Continue
Last Saturday, I adopted a 12 year old cat from a man who is terminally ill and cannot care for him anymore. We had him for 24 hours and then he escaped through the window screen on Sunday afternoon. What a way for a good deed to be undone!
His name is Spike. He is a black tabby cat with white front and feet. He hasn't been with us long enough to consider us home, and he's either trying to get back to his old home downtown or he's hiding somewhere in my neighborhood, which is behind… Continue
This year's voting for BEST OF SANTA FE in the Santa Fe Reporter has officially begun.
I just went through the rather tedious voting process, but I do it every year because as a business owner, I can tell you, winning this award is very special because it comes from our customers....
You can write in YOUR choice in every category if the person/business YOU want to vote for is not listed....
While voting, I noticed the category Best Local web… Continue
Ben's note: I was fortunate enough to be among the group of people Saturday who got to spend some time with Jane Goodall. Here's a story I did for The New Mexican that ran in Sunday's edition. I also had a one-on-one interview with Goodall where she talked of her inspiration for animal welfare -- a neighborhood dog Rusty, whom the family eventually adopted. I hope to write several stories about 'Dr. Jane.' Stay tuned.
Pagan is home. A gentleman found him and telephoned me to give me directions to his house to pick Pagan up. Other than dirty, and a wee bit leaner, Pagan seems none the worse for wear given his (mis) adventure. Now both he and I can gain some much needed weight.
Thank-you to those that were supportive of Pagan's disappearance; your kind words of encouragement were most appreciated. To the others, well, never mind.

Do you have a bit of free time on Friday? Maybe you could help us out by walking some of our shelter dogs this Friday between 8am and 1pm? We are leaving to go to Fetchapalooza- the biggest pet adoption event in the southwest- and want to get our doggies LOTS of exercise before they get loaded into the van for the big trip. We have 40 dogs and puppies at the shelter who need nice long walks before they get crated, so even if you just have time to come up and walk one of them, that would be… Continue
Come and play a game of golf to benefit the Espanola Animal Shelter...here are some pictures from last year's fun event!
The Espanola Animal Shelter relies on fundraising events just like this one to shelter more than 3,800 pets and provide spay and neuter services to more than 2,800 cats and dogs this year. Please join in the golfing fun!
Putts for Pets takes place on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Black Mesa Golf Course.
Nina from the Espanola Shelter is tracking a dog we believe to be Maddison right now. She has sighted her around the grassy area close to Mc Donald's just off the St. Frances & St. Michaels intersection. She has been spotted in that area before. We think she is living in the mature arroyo that crosses Don Gaspar and comes down into that area to find food. If anyone can call Nina on her cell phone and help, she will track her for as long as she can. Maddison, being true to reports, is not… Continue
