Most recent post of a flickr friend of mine, a farmer. Interesting how he deals with a colony of feral cats and the trust they developed in each other.

Another Sunday night, three more traps set for my TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) project of the feral cat colony I stumbled upon recently...I got 2 more precious kitties, two little boys! Actually, I trapped 3 but I had to let one go because it was too small for being sterilized. (Yes, these 2 pictures are 2 different kitties, the one with its mouth open is NOT hissing but meowing)
I am making a dent in this colony, 2 cats at a time, wish me luck! And… Continue

I just learned that the water feature at the Railyard is broken because of a seriously broken pipe that is now in process of being repaired. The brake affects the children's water play feature and all the fountains along that particular line. Will hope be enough for this feature to serve us all during the hot summer months?

I am fostering this little guy for Espanola Valley Humane. If you know anyone who might be interested in adopting him, please have them call me to arrange a meeting at (505) 470-1278. Here is his info:

My friend of 30+ years, a horse, Kyrie, died last Monday, and was buried in Santa Rosa on the ranch of my human friends, the Shehans. I am grieving.
The picture was taken on the 15th ,my birthday when she fell the first time and we were able to get her back up, she stayed with us six more days. You can see how emaciated she 'd gotten. But she looks so sweet and at… Continue

Both Pedro and Sheba found great homes. They are as loved as they ever were and they are both happy and contented. Pedro went to a great family and has bonded with the Dad, he always liked having a man around. Sheba has gone to a home where they hike everyday and do long hikes at the weekend and she has another German Shepherd for company, there is a pond in the garden she loves to sit in, she couldn't be happier.…

It’s been a tough stretch for our furry animal companions. First there was that endless winter, followed quickly by a hot, hot spring and summer that has yet to ease.
And now it’s time for bombs bursting in air. Yup, Fourth of July. While most of us have a blast enjoying our nation’s Independence Day, many dogs would prefer to be on the moon.
And if you’ve ever seen a dog react to fireworks, you might just think they are trying to jump over that celestial orb.

DO YOU HAVE THE GUTS TO TAKE A STAND
Today was one more ordinary hot Saturday with short errands to get out of the way. As I turned onto my Lopez Street off of Dunlap and drive home with windows rolled up, air-conditioning blasting to keep my Blue Heeler Sweet Sade cool, I heard shrieks in blood curdling form of yelping. At first I thought I may have had hit a dog; as I looked around the car I saw nothing but continued… Continue

Above, one of my FIRST EVER TNR babies :)I certainly did NOT know what TNR meant until last Tuesday....
And now...I am working on a TNR project of a feral cat colony I stumbled upon by accident last week....I physically saw about 15 cats, most of them kittens...and who knows how many more in hiding....TNR stands for Trap-Neuter-Return.
This last Monday evening, I set 10 traps with the help of some… Continue

Finally the dog park got a running water feature again. No more drinking water that has been contained in toxic plastic exposed to the heat of the sun for hours on end for our sweeties! Hope this feature does not go the way of those in the Railyard which currently seem dysfunctional!
New trees that will eventually provide welcome shade may need our supervision. Recently some supposedly looked like they were withering away, but today,… Continue

One of my closest canine friends is a terrier "mutt" named Jaunty. As his name would imply, he has a healthy penchant for jaunts along Eldorado's extensive trail system. Yet after months of tearing it up, as it were, it became clear that we needed something to spice up our relationship, something new something different that we could do together. The answer came as the ice melted and the desert terrain revealed some level of verdure. One early spring day we entered the Agora shopping center's… Continue
