(From MSNBC): It's not clear why chicken jerky products seem to be causing illnesses and even deaths in dogs, federal Food and Drug Administration officials say.

Please take five minutes to help chimpanzees who face more lab torture!
The surviving chimpanzees of the Alamogordo Primate Facility are still waiting for their verdict – will the National Institutes of Health choose the humane, prudent path to permanently retire the chimps or force 54-year-old Flo and her colleagues…Continue
I have lost my job as a consultant at the lab (quite unexpectedly due to a reorg in the environmental program!) and will be moving in about 6 weeks... I am looking for a loving, active home for my beautiful girl Angel... a blue merle Aussie with maybe some Border collie too... she's a little taller and longer than a pure bred Aussie, but looks just like one.
She is very beautiful... the first thing everyone says when they see her is "Wow! How beautiful!"…Continue

Paco came to The Horse Shelter in October, 2010, with five other quarter horses all of whom were thin and neglected. One year later, October 2011, Paco was adopted by Rodeo Queen, Sara Czmyrid, who plans to train him as a barrel racer. Congratulations to Paco and Sara! Here are some photos of Paco working with Horse Shelter trainer, Tom Larson.…Continue

CindyR forwarded this to me. It made me laugh, and empathize. It's from the Best of Craigslist, originally posted a few years ago. http://www.craigslist.org/about/best/sfo/247044188.html
This sweet guy was saved today from the Artesia Shelter thanks to Paws & Claws Humane Society and Dew Paws Rescue. He is 10 months old, very mature for his age, smart, trainable, loyal (I've known him for several hours and he is my BFF). I picked him up in Clines Corners and I don't want to take him to…Continue
Since my beautiful cat Smooshie disappeared I check the SFAS website every week hoping that she will turn up. Cats have turned up there years after disappearing!
There were 17 pages of cats on the Santa Fe Animal Shelter website last week. Now there are only 13 pages. And their satellite adoption center was closed due to one cat with ringworm - or tinea - which is a harmless fungus that causes only cosmetic problems.
Where did all the cats…Continue
Warm and affectionate, Dillon is a special needs dog! This 7 yr old neutered male Corgi mix developed a condition that compromised the muscles of his head, and jaw. Dillon is playful and loves to go for walks but needs a home with someone who will take the time to ensure he gets his daily nutrition! As a temporary or permanent companion Dillon will thrive with a person who has time to give him the attention and affection he craves.

Dew Paws Rescue has not been in the game very long but in our time have managed to collect several elder and/or medically needy dogs. We love working with these dogs but the reality is that they are expensive and they are not easily adopted out, though we have had a pretty good track record on many Sr. dogs we have taken. The ones in the system right now are a mixed bag.

A friend in Maine wrote this article for her local paper to raise awareness that a stray cat might really be someone's lost pet. She says it is great if others modify and republish in other places. So, if you can use this to help raise awareness, please do so.
Well-meaning But Misguided Responses To Finding a “Lost” Cat
When outdoor pets go missing in the fall, the owners’ first fearful thought is that a predator got the animal, as coyotes, bobcats,…Continue
