Disappointed with vet care

I was very impressed with Dr. Schrempp, oncology vet at VCA Hospital in ABQ (9901 Montgomery).  When I took my 13 year old black lab in for liver cancer treatment in 2013 she sent me home with a 10 page document specific to my dog, lining out my dog's health history, spelling out everything, and a very thorough explanation including all the Rx of the 3 possible treatment paths.

I have never seen anything like this since, in animal or human care.  This year I have had 2 dogs with…

The shelter’s has launched the Weekend Wags program, she said. Each…

“It’s hard to believe that spring is here when we’ve just had snow and rain,” said Dylan Moore, the shelter’s adoptions director. “But that just gives us a chance to offer a fun…

Pepper's headed back to Santa Fe!

Some of you may remember Pepper - he's the dog who helped rally a community to rescue him when he spent more than six months roaming the arroyos and streets of Santa Fe. Thanks to Steve and Yvette Dobbie and their Pepper's Posse, Pepper was rescued and found a beautiful sanctuary in Northern California. Unfortunately that sanctuary is no more and Steve and Yvette are once again there for Pepper. Steve picked up Pepper - the last of the animals at the sanctuary - to bring him…

2 dogs off of RidgeTop Road

At 8:45 this evening while turning onto RidgeTop Road I saw 2 dogs. I stopped and tried to coax them over but they were spooked. They ran off behind the Thornburg building.. One appeared to be a german shepherd black and brown markings.  The other a bit larger, longer haired predominately black, brown and white.

Xena Update - April 9, 2015

As I'm leaving work yesterday, I get a phone call from 2 pre-pubescent boys. After asking if my dog was still missing, one of the boys demands to know if there is a reward. After I reply, "yes" to both questions, the child demands to know how much the reward is. I say, "does it matter?" He replies, "YES!" Unless I told him the reward amount, the only information he would give me is that they were at Alto Park with Xena. I hear the other boy in the background saying, "Dude, just tell…

3 Months - No Sign of Xena

I have lost 3 dogs in the past 8 months.  One to a rapid onset of ravenous cancer; one after 16 years of living a great life; and Xena who ran away after being spooked at the Frank Ortiz Dog Park on December 21st, 2014.  There is a BIG difference between losing an animal companion and knowing the outcome and the not knowing.  We still don't know what happened to Xena after 3 months and the lack of closure is hard to endure.  Alot of folks have been following this story, so, I felt compelled…
