Emotional Roller Coaster Rides

Life is so strange sometimes....

On Thursday, 9/10/09, around lunch time, I sent off an email to my friend Mary, also known as Mary Martin, the Santa Fe Animal Shelter Director. I asked her what her opinion was of adopting another dog after the so recent loss of such a love as my HeartDog Rico. I told her I was deeply depressed and unsure of how to pull myself out of this. I also told her I had been scanning over the "Adoptable Dogs" on their web site and my mouse kept clicking and… Continue

Strange happenings

I am still reeling from the blow of Rico's totally unexpected death.

I have never been a very spiritual person. If I can't see it, it simply does not exist for me. Or does it?

Painful struggles

Life rushes on, relentlessly. And we try to cope, go on. My husband and I went away for the weekend on a road trip with our dog Nita. So silly! We cannot escape our thoughts! Memories of Rico were everywhere, we had been so many places with him, never leaving him because he was such a special needs little boy from his chronic and severe epilepsy to the horrific hit and run accident a few years back and, last week, another bout with pancreatitis, even though we were so careful about what Rico… Continue

Words of comfort from a friend

The House Dog's Grave (Haig, an English bulldog)

I've changed my ways a little; I cannot now

Run with you in the evenings along the shore,

Except in a kind of dream; and you, if you dream a moment,

You see me there.

So leave awhile the paw-marks on the front door

Where I used to scratch to go out or in,

And you'd soon open; leave on the kitchen floor

The marks of my drinking-pan.

I… Continue
