Abandoned Horse on Federal Land Near Abiquiu

Someone apparently left their horse on federal land near Abiquiu.  She seemed very lonely and wanted to get in my car.  I know the horse shelters and rescues are overwhelmed with horses now.  I left the Horse Shelter a voicemail.  She is very sweet and great with dogs if anyone is looking for a horse...  Videos here:  http://www.youtube.com/user/JuliePerro

Thank you Judy.  These horses were a long ways away from Ghost Ranch.  I left a voicemail with Susan so I will start there.  Thank you!

Try calling Susan Hemmerle, Program Manager for The Horse Shelter at 471-6179, she is very knowledgeable. Also call Alan Edmonds with Animal Protection of New Mexico at (505) 821-9142, alan@apnm.org. Walkin' in Circles is another horse shelter you might try. They are located in Edgewood and their phone number is (505) 286-0779. It just occurred to me -- they have horses at Ghost Ranch and I have seen donkeys and horses free roaming on that land. You might check with them too. Good LucK!
