Comment by Mary Shepherd on December 20, 2011 at 2:51pm It is a tragic and heartbreaking end to 30-years of caring for a cat colony that started out as working cats at the old lumber yard.
Is this degree of cruelty really necessary? NO.
This is a 4th degree felony. Is there no rule of law in Santa Fe?
Um. Yeh. They are the ones who covered it up. Alan Edmonds at Animal Protection won't send anything to them that he doesn't have a verified paper trail on. I'm done with it because no justice will come from this. Thank you to all of you who cared. It was a wonderful 30 years caring for this colony.
Found out that yes, Jason is with AS.
Maybe Jason is SFAS. Tan uniform shirt. Huge elk tattoo on right forearm. He visited no other "surrounding businesses" except Four Star Tattoo, a block away.
The best way to get answers to your questions/concerns would be to contact Santa Fe City Animal Services.
Certainly not before they question the person who called the police. Duh. How would they know what to say if they didn't even know why I called?!?!?
Jason is best friends with this man and the conversation led us to believe that he was part of the poisoning.
Your earlier comment made it sound as though someone told the investigators who the "perpetrator" was. Now we know. Either way, it still makes sense to me that it would be police procedure to question surrounding businesses, etc. Glad to hear Jason informed you the same day of his investigation. I'm sure this is a very frustrating situation for everyone closely involved and those of us who aren't but care deeply for these sweet little lives.
Let me repeat that the Santa Fe Police were NOT told of any suspect when the calls were made to report dead cats in the parking lot.
Ofiicer Alano didn't want to take my call. I didn't indicate who I suspected of poisoning the cats. Jason went to that business all on his own. It really did take three phone calls to get Officer Alano to issue a case number so that Animal Protection could go ahead with the autopsies. And for him to send someone (Jason) to see me.
